Wentworth Golf Course

Located in Wentworth, England this prestigious course was officially opened in 1926 and designed by H.S. Colt.  The club is surrounded by and entwined with the Wentworth Estate, one of the most expensive private estates in the London area. The course is one of four courses on the estate.  Wentworth legend Ernie Els even owns a property on the estate which has helped him win the tournament more times than any other player in match play history and that always gives him good match play odds.  The Edinburgh and East courses being the other 18 holes courses in addition to a 9 hole short course.

Wentworth is the location for the headquarters of the PGA European Tour and each year it hosts the Tour's PGA Championship and World Match Play events.  It also houses a Tennis & Health Club.  It was purchased by Richard Caring, a prominent member of the fashion industry for £130 million in 2004.

The Course

This historical course has been the venue for the world match play championship for 44 years and is revered by golfers and fans alike, its has also been host for the Ryder Cup in 1953 and the BMW Championship from 1984.  Running at a smooth 72 par and over a length of over 7300 yards with pleasing elevation changes and a variety of different length par-3s, par-4s and par-5s.

Greens
The grass is made up of a mix of poa,  annua and bent grass which is cut to a height of 3.0mm which gives a lot movement and a fast paced green.

Fairways
A mix of bent, fescue, poa grass on the fairway cut to a height of 11mm, tight and many holes require placement on one side or other of the fairway to open up the approach shot.

Tees & Collars
The grass on the tee is a mix of poa, fescue and bent cut to a height of 10mm.

Rough
The rough is a mix of rye, poa and fescue grass.  The semi-rough is cut to a height of 2m band at 32mm, the rough is cut to a height of 125mm and is best avoided.
